At first, participants of the current edition visited Elektrownia Jaworzno III where they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the energy strategy and details of energy production process. The company representative who guided visitors managed to clear up the multitude of questions asked in places with different temperature: in the hot hall of pots and in frost by the unloading ramp. Next they paid a visit to Tenneco Automotive Polska in Rybnik that produces exhaust systems, where they could familiarize themselves with Lean Manufacturing and other Production Management Techniques employed in this factory. In Saint-Gobain Construction Products Polska, that produces isolation materials from glass wool and mineral wool, both production lines and customer service as well as the cooperation of these departments were presented. During the visits in Fiat Auto Poland in Tychy and Opel General Motors Manufacturing in Gliwice they could compare production systems and quality control of every production stage, and admire brand-new cars arriving from production lines (e.g. Astra IV). At the end they saw the technological and organization processes in Browary Tyskie.
Krzysztof, the participant of the 6 edition of Silesianum states that thanks to study visits I discovered how we could apply Managements Methods presented during classes. It was inspiring and it gave me a lot of ideas that I could use in my work. I realized that if we make some effort, each technique can be adopted to different conditions.
Now the participants will take part in “expert visits” in partner companies. Each of young engineers will invite colleagues to their company and will make a managerial presentation. Their task will also be to organize and run a one-day workshop. Its subject will concern domains in which the company is considered as Expert.
