Curriculum
Study periods at the educational centre overlap with the company work periods, according to the calendar below.
Classes are conducted in small groups using active educational methods: workshops, simulation games, case studies, audits, and study visits to companies.
Topics of the classes cover the following issues:
Production organisation: Lean Manufacturing, SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die), VSM (Value Stream Mapping), Kanban, 5S, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), TQM (Total Quality Management), MRP/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Six Sigma, SPC (Statistical Process Control), Project Management, Kaizen, Strategic Management, Intellectual Property and Patent Law (300 hours).
Personal development: analysis of experience from companies, leadership, self-management in time, self-presentation, decision making, communication, negotiations, team work, human resources management, business ethics, foreign languages (240 hours).
Finance and marketing: (60 hours).
Classes are mostly conducted by experts and consultants working in industry or possessing industrial experience.
Coaching and tutoring: individual assistance in professional development constitutes support for a young engineer in the accomplishment of a company’s mission and it makes him/her more effective in action.
Qualification conditions and stages of recruitment
STAGE 1: Qualification by the Foundation for Technical Education (FET)
Qualification conditions:
Master of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering degree (candidates may defend their thesis in September or October),
• age up to 28, (the aim of the course is to help people embarking on their professional careers),
• submission of an application documents,
• knowledge of Polish at communicative level,
• knowledge of French, English or German at communicative level,
• successful completion of the interview.
• payment of the entrance fee (transfer to FET's bank account) - please attach confirmation of payment to the submitted documents.
Qualified persons will receive FET's support while:
• developing their professional profile depending on personal interests and companies' demand as well as preparing for interviews in companies (through preparatory workshops),
• contacting selected enterprises,
• possible work commencement in companies in the period preceding formal beginning of the course.
STAGE 2: Recruitment by partner companies of Silesianum Professional (FET presents the selected candidates to given companies)
• participation in preparatory workshops,
• payment of a fee for workshops,
• successful completion of an interview in company.
Only persons qualified by FET and later accepted by companies may take part in the course.
Each person accepted by a company becomes that company's employee (fixed-term contract or a commission contract) and receives remuneration for his/her job.
STAGE 3: acceptance by partner companies and course commencement.
Costs
Costs of participation in the one-year professional improvement course organised by Silesianum Professional:
PLN 3800 – course fee (including the entrance fee and the fee for preparatory workshops).
Additional information:
A fee for participation in the course organised by Silesianum Professional relates to qualifying for subsequent course stages:
• STAGE 1: interview
The entrance fee of PLN 200 should be paid before the interview at FET.
The entrance fee will be refunded:
- in the event of not being qualified by FET.
The entrance fee will not be refunded:
- in the event of not appearing at the interview conducted by FET,
- in the event of being qualified by FET to participate in preparatory workshops.
• STAGE 2: preparatory workshops
The fee covering the costs of preparatory workshops of PLN 300 should be paid before the start of the workshops.
In the event that one of the partner companies expresses its acceptance and once the course commences, the entrance fee becomes part of the whole course fee.
The workshop fee will be refunded:
in the event that the candidate is not accepted by any partner company.
The preparatory workshop fee will not be refunded:
in the event that the candidate does not come to the company interview or abandons during STAGE 2.
• STAGE 3: acceptance by partner companies and course commencement
After the course beginning: the remaining part of the course fee is paid by the participants in three instalments: the first one after receiving the second monthly remuneration from the company.

27 Oct. 2010 – start-up of Silesianum Professional edition 7
29 Oct. 2011 – end of Silesianum Professional edition 7
